Link Hands Uganda continues to be committed to uplifting and empowering the lives of needy people in Uganda. Over 15 children have benefited by being able to go to school, over 50 families have received support from LHU, and overall, over 200 people have been reached and impacted in their lives. We continue to work towards creating lasting impact and lasting relationships with the people in Uganda.

The month of August Link Hands Uganda hosted Mr. Anders Eliasson our great partner who has single-handedly supported our organization from its inception and formation. Every year he has a one-time mission trip where he comes and monitor and evaluate LHU activities, encourage and pray for the beneficiaries, and lastly participates in all activities.

The mission trips mean a lot to both the volunteers, sponsors, and the administration of Link Hands Uganda. When people come and see what is going on and how it is changing people’s lives, this creates lasting relationships with many people in Uganda. One of our core values is to see that we create lasting relationships with the needy people we serve. This changes their worldviews, encourages them and gives them hope and restores a smile on their faces.

Activities of the Month.

Most of the activities of this month were carried in the last days when we had our dear sponsor. The following below are the activities for the month of August 2024.

1.     Nalufenya outreach: We visited Nalufenya children’s hospital in Jinja City and we donated five pulse-oximeters, and a box of solar thermometers. We had a successful meeting with the hospital administration and management. They showed their gratefulness to Link Hands’ support with the monthly food supplies to make solvents. They were also very thankful to the medical instruments that were donated by Mr. Anders via Link Hands Uganda. We toured around the hospital, and it was filled up to capacity and there was lack of medicines and inadequate medical personnels. Mr. Anders prayed for the children most especially those who were in ICU unit. Visiting Nalufenya is very touching and drives us emotional.

2.     Malijani: The happy widow in Butiki who HIV/AIDS positive is received a tailoring machine, and food supplies. She has been on our social program for a long time, and we are proud of her because she keeps on improving every time, we visit her. she will use the sewing machine to be able to support her family financially because she will be selling the clothes in the local markets around Jinja town villages. Keep malijani in your prayers.

3.     Sponsored children: Link Hands Uganda has a total of fifteen children on the sponsorship program from primary, to tertiary institutions. When Mr. Anders was here, he had some time with the sponsored children, and they were happy to see the person behind their success and education. Blessing and Tendo presented songs to him in a way of showing their gratitude. Morris presented a speech thanking Anders for his continuous support and he asked God to continue to bless Anders and his wife Ingela. Lastly, it was a time to share a cake, sweets, and sodas since it is a delicacy to children in Uganda.

4.     Local Orphanage support: Mr. Muzungu Noah hosted Link Hands team and Mr. Anders for a full day at his orphanage in Butiki village. We were thrilled to see the happy children, big smiles, dance and songs presented by the orphans. Muzungu Noah prepared a Duck for us as lunch which we shared with the children, and we had great time. Lastly, the cake was shared and Mr. Anders donated clothes to the children at the orphanage and they made a shout of joy with jubilations. Supporting this local orphanage brings us closer to the realization that we need one another and there is a need to support and pray for each other.

5.     Kaato Lutheran Church: Kaato is a remote place found in Kayunga district and there is a congregation called Kaato Lutheran Church that is led by Rev. Wilberforce Lutalo. The church is in dire state but with faithful congregants. Mr. Anders and Rev. Benard Mwesigwa worshipped in this church and donated 40 Luganda Bibles. The congregants gifted Mr. Anders fresh avocados, jackfruit, and pineapples. We were later welcomed at Rev. Lutalo’s home where he served us good food. Coming to Uganda, we continue to explore the good work of the Lord he is doing here and calling many to faith by His word.

6.     Home Visitations: Ten families were reached out with food items and basic needs which include posho, beans, salt, bar soap, bread and Vaselines for the children. We visited mostly the families of needy widows with children or grandchildren. The food items were received with thankfulness and with a local shout of jubilation. The happy lady in Lwanda said, “I am very ill, and I was very worried about where I will get food for my grandchildren but I now, huh, my heart magnifies the Lord but thank you so much for this support. God’s blessings follow you.”

7.     Brenda: She is the most successful story of LHU. She has moved from a small kiosk in Bugembe to owning a shop of clothes in Jinja town. We donated clothes so that she can sale them and be able to support her family. We look forward to seeing Brenda Nankwanga growing her business bigger and bigger.

 Conclusion

The mission trips are one of the most important parts of the year; getting our visitor involved in the local activities. We thank Mr. Anders for continuously supporting Link Hands Uganda and coming down here to see the work we are doing. We pray that the Lord may enable him to come back next year and serve with us!! We value every single minute we spend with him.We maintain our core values of transparency, God fearing, respectfulness, hope, love, accountability, and relationship building.

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
