Introduction:
The school year calendar began in this month of February with the first term where children go to new classes and advance their studies. Link Hands Uganda values education and prioritizes it in all its activities. There are 14 children on the sponsorship program, and all are in school courtesy of the Swedish Family and solely supported by Anders and Ingela. Education is the biggest gift you can give to a child because in future they will acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to take care of themselves in the future and be self-reliant.
Besides education, children’s social wellbeing is the second priority of Link Hands Uganda. The children’s health care & hygiene, quality of life, and children’s rights advocacy, and general wellbeing.
Our third priority is to ensure that we lift the needy people in the community mainly those facing problems like poverty, food insecurity, health & hygiene, gender-based violence, and unequal distribution of resources in the community. For the past 4 years, Link Hands has reached out to many families and individuals who face such problems mentioned above in many ways.
We do all this in relation with the Word of God and as a way of evangelism and winning souls to Christ.
Activities of the Month.
The following are the activities carried out in the month of February.
1. Brenda Nankwanga:
Brenda is among the first beneficiary of our social program. She was helped with starting up capital to do her business of selling secondhand clothes and shoes. She has grown her business from scratch and now she has moved to a shop in Jinja town where she sells children’s clothes and shoes. In February, Brenda received two parcels containing children’s clothes. She is so thankful for this continuous support from Mr. Anders and his wife Ingela. Her dream is to own a big clothing line in Eastern Uganda and to support the needy children in the community.
2. Malijani:
Like Brenda, Malijani is among the first people beneficiary of our social program. She is a widow suffering from HIV/AIDS disease, but she has a happy spirit, and she loves the Lord. Malijani stays with her daughter and 4 grandkids, and she depends solely on gardening to take care of her family. In February, she received relief food since there was drought and feminine in January and February. Her crops were destroyed by the scotching sun. Link Hands Uganda volunteers Emmanuel and Edrin reached out to her with eateries which included posho, beans, rice, sugar, and other things like soap, and cooking oil. She was full of joy and happiness, and she made a laud acclamation upon receiving the package. She said, “The Lord is surely good! I didn’t expect this help, yet I have been praying. May the Lord bless you!!!”

3. School Fees:
Link Hands Uganda run a sponsorship program that aims at giving support to children through supporting their education. This has run since the inception of Link Hands Uganda, and it is among the top three priorities of the organization. There are fourteen children in this program and these include: six pupils in primary school, seven in secondary school, one in tertiary school, and one is hoping to join university in August. We are amazed to see these children growing and transforming every day! Mr. Anders has met most of these children and prayed for them so that they will have God’s wisdom and knowledge. A sponsored child called Mourice upon knowing that his school fees was paid, he said, “I would love to give a big hug to Anders because he has supported my education for the last four years. When my family couldn’t pay God sent an angel to pay for us!” what a statement from Maurice who is now in S. 5 and only remaining with two classes to join the university. We give thanks to Mr. Anders for not failing to support these children.
4. Nalufenya children’s hospital support:
Link Hands Uganda dedicates itself to support the malnutrition ward of Nalufenya children’s hospital in Jinja town. Nalufenya children’s hospital is the biggest children’s hospital which is owned by the government. Every month, Link Hands supplies the hospital with items that are used to make solvents for the malnourished children so that they recover and have better health. We interviewed a mother of a malnourished child, and she showed her gratitude towards the monthly help and how it is changing the lives of children. We also interviewed an administrator of the malnutrition ward, and he also showed his gratitude. Glory be to God who enables us!!
5. Mama Waiswa Lwanda:
Her home is in Lwanda village after Nakabango Lutheran Church. She is a widow, and she takes care of 8 grandkids who live with her. When we first visit her in 2022, she didn’t have a bed nor a mattress. The children were sleeping on the floor without a mattress or blankets. When Mr. Anders and Ingela visited, she received a mattress and a blanket, and she gave it to her grandkids to use. She had requested for beddings earlier, but Link Hands Uganda was able to provide this month. Emma and Edrin delivered a bed, and a big mattress. These are bigger than usual beds and mattresses. She danced, made an acclamation, and rejoiced over what she received. She prayed for the team that delivered the bed and mattress.
