Link Hands Uganda is known in Eastern Uganda particularly Jinja district for its commitment to uplift the lives of the needy people by reaching out to them with relief food, education sponsorships, small business support, evangelism & pastoral care services, medical assistance, and community engagements. This has made us recognized even to the local leaders, local NGOs & CSOs, and corporate companies.

The local leaders and companies have asked us to engage with them on corporate social responsibilities in the community (CSR), and Lutheran church in Uganda has given us a greenlight to reach out to her congregants with the Good News of Jesus Christ, and restoration programs that bring faith and Hope in Christ.

Our weekly activities include, visiting the sick, monitoring and evaluating small businesses, sourcing and selecting who qualifies to be helped, and following up on the beneficiaries on the social program.

 Activities of the month.

The following below are the activities performed in the month of October.

1.     Holy communion ware:

Ikumbya Lutheran Church is a remote congregation situated in Luuka District led by a young man called Rev. Joseph Ngobi. Earlier on they had requested to have a communion set because they sometimes take a full year without Holy Communion. Link Hands Uganda found it wise to purchase the Holy communion set and gift it to this local congregation and it was delivered to Rev. Joseph Ngobi who seemed to be more grateful. He said, “Having this gift ensures that people will receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ. They will receive forgiveness of sins, and the promise of eternal life in Christ.”

2.     Nalufenya Children’s hospital:

Link Hands Uganda has consistently dedicated herself to help Nalufenya Malnutrition ward. The hospital management is very happy and grateful for the continuous support. Nurse Eunice said, “I am new here in this ward, but I have heard good stories about your monthly support. I wonder where we would be without your support. Send our greetings to the donors back in Sweden.”

3.     Mattresses to local orphanage:

The local orphanage run by Mr. Muzungu Noah, and it has close to 50 children. When we visited the orphanage with Mr. Anders in August, Mr. Noah requested for mattresses because the ones he had weren’t enough and some were very old. Mr. Anders were touched by what he saw in the orphanage and promised to help. So, in October he sent funds to buy mattresses for the orphans so that they can sleep comfortably and study well. When the truck delivered the mattresses, the children jubilated and sung songs of victory and triumph. The song goes, “see what the Lord has done, what we have been praying for, has come to pass…...see what the Lord has done!!”

4.     Tezikya Simon:

He is a 64-year-old man who lost one of his legs in a boda boda accident in 2022. His leg had started to get rot, and he didn’t have any help, so he reached out to Nakabango Lutheran Church where Rev. Benard serves as the lead pastor. Rev. Benard who is the executive director of Link Hands Uganda had a meeting with his fellow colleagues at the organization and decided to help Tezikya to get medication at Nile international Hospital. Mr. Simon went for a medical surgery where he received better treatment, and the rotten part was discarded. Now he is no longer in pain but only thanks the Lord for his life.

5.     Rev. Benard & Milbetty’s wedding:

Rev. Benard was wedding on 2nd November 2024 where he wedded his longtime friend and fiancée who at the same time volunteers for Link Hands Uganda. Mr. Anders and his beloved wife Ingela sent a monetary gift to them. They are so happy that Mr. Anders and Ingela are their friends. Milbetty said to Rev. Benard, “See how wonderful God is! Anders and Ingela think about us and love us. They deserve a big hug and gift.”

 Accountability

 Conclusion:

Many people reach out to us seeking support, but we maintain our way of work and operation of one person at a time. With this kind of strategy, we have made bigger steps that seemed to be small at the beginning.

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:11
