The education of a child matters because when a child is educated, they acquire knowledge, and skills, that prepares them for future workforce that is needed and demanded in our society. But also, education helps to make girls to stay in schools and avoid early marriages, child labor, and other vices in the society today. When a girl child is educated, the entire village is educated, and they empowered to support themselves financially and stand up against wrong cultural values.
The Link Hands Uganda organization has a total of fifteen children on the sponsorship program: namely six in primary school, eight in boarding school, and one in tertiary institution. These children go to middle range schools where they receive quality education. Education of the needy children remains the biggest priority of Link Hands Uganda.
Besides education, there are other social and spiritual activities we engage in every year, and these include: relief program to needy families, capital start-up for business, medication, evangelism in the community and church involvements, and lastly skilling the community.
Every month we are committed to realization of our vision that is, “A transformed community, socially, spiritually, and economically” and this through our mission, “To work together to transform our communities”.
Activities of the month.
The following are the activities performed in the month of September 2024.
1. School fees: Primary and secondary schools opened on 16th September 2024 for the third term of the academic year 2024. All sponsored children’s school fees were paid in time, and all are in school. Prior to their beginning of a new term, we encouraged them to study well and focus so that they can pass the examinations and be promoted to another class next year. We have Babirye Leticia who is completing her high school and next year she will be going to university in August. Morris and Patrick will sit for their ordinary level exams in October and then next year they will be in Advanced level of high school for two years then they join university. Immaculate next year she will be in senior four and, she will be aiming for the advanced level of high school after next year. The other students are still below and are studying well step by step to reach those levels.

2. Nalufenya children’s hospital: Link Hands Uganda has a great working partnership with Nalufenya children’s hospital whereby we continue to donate eateries or food items used in making solvents for the malnourished children. This is our biggest and most valuable relationship and partnership because with the little help, many lives are touched and transformed for good. Even in this month of September, the hospital received food items that make solvents so that the malnourished children can get a better diet and get healed.
3. Kasadha Sarah: She is one of the pioneers on the social program from inception. She is battling with HIV/AIDS and now she needed treatment for her back since the spinal code and one of her vertebrae bones got dislocation. She talked to Mr. Anders when he was here in Uganda about it. Link Hands Uganda has been able to run to her rescue and took her to the doctor for examinations. The medical doctor recommended that now she must be on relief medication for the spinal-code and see a physiotherapist to work on her vertebrae bone. Now she is on medication and thankful to Link Hands Uganda and Mr. Anders for supporting her every time when she has lost hope.

4. Mwendhe Kibwika: He is a 76-year-old widow who is HIV/AIDS positive who is suffering with kidney failure. His elder son called Rogers visited our offices and asked for help so that his father can live. We contacted Nile International Hospital in Jinja, and we were told that at his age he cannot undergo a kidney transplant but only put him on medication to assist his kidney to function. Keep Mwendhe in your prayers.
Conclusion: We are thrilled to see that our vision is being realized each day hence coming to reality. The month of September was a month of learning from the people we support financially and spiritually. So, it isn’t a one-way street but a two-way traffic in that we continuously learn from them as they also learn from us hence building relationships and changing the world one step at a time.
“So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” Romans 14:19
