Introduction

The Grace of Christ enabled Link Hands Uganda to reach out to vulnerable people in Jinja District during the campaign and elections.

There was a lot of insecurity and fear in people before and after elections, we reached out to people who needed medication, seeds for planting, and food.

The financial help from you, Mr. Anders, means a lot to many people here in Uganda. You restore hope, and faith in many lives of people.

The activities of January were conducted by Benard, and Paul. Betty and Jean were engaged in other personal works and also due to insecurity they feared to move out.

We believe that with this continued support, many lives will be empowered and filled with joy and love.

Activities of January

The month of January was characterized by poverty across the country due to elections. The most pressing need was medical care; the hospitals were overwhelmed with patients. Wer managed to reach out 5 people who needed medical assistance, these include:

  1. Namugabo Apofia

  2. Isiko Bosa

  3. Bwoye Shafik

  4. Rukia Lucy

  5. Namaganda Annet

Shafik and Bosa are prisoners who were brought to Jinja Referral Hospital for medication but they had no one to pay for their medical bills. Shafik is 37 years old who is serving his punishment at Kirinya prisons Jinja. Shafik contracted Tuberculosis while in prison due to the overcrowding of the prison cells; where over 100 prisoners are put in one small hall.

Isiko Bosa 33 years old. He is also serving his punishment at Kirinya prisons in Jinja. He contracted Tuberculosis and another unidentified disease that has made him develop a skin boils.

Rukia Lucy is not new to you; we have assisted her before. She has ulcers and she vomits blood. She fell sick when she travelled to western Uganda to visit her mum. The family contacted us and we responded by sending her medical cash.

Namugabo Apofia she is 57 years old. She broke her leg when she fell down in the bathroom. She also has a heart problem. We were contacted by her son who wanted us to help him to pay the bills of the leg. The family had contributed money but it wasn’t enough so we topped up on what they had.

Namaganda Annet is 72 years old widow who suffers from diabetic. Blood sugars were so high so we got her medications from Almeca Medical centre.

Link hands Uganda paid travel expenses of a seminarian called Muwanga Latif. Nakabango Lutheran church had no money to transport its student back to seminary in Magamaga, Mayuge district. L.H.U gave him transport money and a one-time stipend.

Two families received seeds for planting when the rain comes. These two families reached out to Jean and told him that they want seeds to plant, not money. L.H.U decided to buy them seeds; 4kgs of beans, 5kgs of Maize, and 1 small packet of eggplant seeds for each family.

We kindly request you to continue with this kind of support; many people live in extreme poverty and this kind of support could do much for them.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” – Colossians 2:6-7
